Rules at Show Dance Championships
DanceSport is gradually leading to an extremely popular spectator sport, like ice-skating already is for years. Especially the Kür in ice-skating, where 1 person or 1 couple at a time is on the ice, is appreciated by viewers.
This was a reason for the DanceSport to also have a Kür, and also to organize World Championships for it. The Kür discipline, wich is called "Show Dance" in the DanceSport, is now held in the Standard- and Latin American dancing.
Why is the Kür to the DanceSport also so attractive?
The dancers choose their own music, the costumes fit to their Kür, it gives its own interpretation of their dance and dance composition, in other words they can express themselves in their own way.
Since 1989, the World Cup Kür is organised by the W.D.C.
